Despite the increasing corona incidence in Frankfurt, the international summer shipyard cultural festival should take place as planned.

Visitors can expect a normal start of the 20th edition of the festival, as the organizers announced on Friday.

From this Friday to August 8th, the summer shipyard offers theater productions, performances, music and workshops.

The festival on the banks of the Main starts "with a hygiene concept that goes beyond the requirements," explained a spokeswoman.

Thanks to a special permit, a maximum of 2000 people are allowed onto the open-air area at the Osthafen at the same time.

Access is only granted to those who have been fully vaccinated, tested negative or have recovered.

A free rapid test station has been set up at the entrance.

Unlike last year, there is no general mask requirement.

A larger area and fewer visitors should guarantee that distances are maintained.

The relaxation of the Corona rules that has been in force in Hesse since Thursday cannot be implemented in Frankfurt for the time being.

The easing applies to incidences below 35, in Frankfurt the seven-day incidence on Friday was 40.2, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Thus, the previous regulations remain for the time being.

The new Corona rules primarily affect events and gastronomy.

The visitor limit for closed rooms was increased from 250 to 750.

According to the new regulations, outdoor events with 1500 instead of the previous 500 people are allowed.

There is no test obligation indoors for less than 100 participants, including those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

There is also no obligation to test in indoor catering with a constant incidence of less than 35.

According to the organizers of the Sommerwerft, the permit is available for appearances up to an incidence of 100. However, the regulations could still change in consultation with the health department.

Depending on the incidence, it is conceivable, for example, to reduce the number of visitors or to introduce a mask requirement.
