US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the United States is grateful for Qatar's role in the Afghan peace talks and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

For his part, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his hope for a greater role for his country in mediating many conflicts.

The two foreign ministers' statements came before a meeting at the headquarters of the US State Department in Washington.

Blinken added that Qatar is a vital and essential partner of the United States, not only at the economic level, but is a real partner on the path to peace and stability in the region and to confront terrorism and the organization of the state.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said we hope that our relationship with the United States will help us mediate many disputes, noting that relations between Qatar and the United States are constantly developing.
