"We ... will continue to provide assistance in strengthening the defense capability of Tajikistan, both in a bilateral format and in the framework of the implementation of the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council," Rudenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He stressed that strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border is "a key instrument for ensuring the security of the southern borders of the CSTO."

"An intergovernmental agreement is now being prepared for signing on the provision of gratuitous aid to Tajikistan for the construction of a border outpost on the Tajik-Afghan border," Rudenko said.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian military base in Tajikistan will be reinforced with modern armored vehicles against the background of the Afghan aggravation.
