Along the intersection from the village Mörkret up to the national park's main entrance runs a narrow and partly steep road.

It is along this road that the cars must stand when the parking lot at the entrance is full.

Last year, great chaos ensued when visitors did not know where to park.

The chaos created problems for rescue workers to get around.

Therefore, this year the county administrative board has appointed parking guards, who currently remain until week 32.

A lane is open for traffic in both directions and there the parking guards keep track and direct the traffic.

May need to say no to visitors

- We make sure that people park along the road so that a lane is open for rescue personnel to get around, he explains and adds that they may be forced to say no to visitors in the coming weeks.

When SVT Dalarna was in place, cars were parked along a stretch of just over three kilometers.

At lunchtime, the line of cars filled up quickly and the distance that tourists were forced to walk to get to Naturum and Njupeskär's waterfall became even longer.

- It is feared to be even longer in the coming weeks.

We have not reached the peak yet, says parking attendant Krister Staffansson.

When the car park at the entrance to the national park is full, the cars are allowed to park along the roadside.

Only one lane is open and it is above all for blue light staff to be able to get up and down.

The call: Choose another time or other national parks

Moa Kling, who is the director of Naturum at Fulufjället National Park, confirms the visitor boom.

- If you want to make sure there is space for parking, it is important to arrive early or late, she says and also takes the opportunity to point out that the national park is large.
