It is desolate in the supermarket right next to the border at the top of northern Värmland.

The huge tobacco counter where the system company goods are also handed out is empty, as is the huge fridge-freezer compartment.

- We are preparing for a more normal situation, but of course we can not refill with fresh produce, says site manager Niklas Ideskär and looks around in the deserted store.

For a couple of weeks now, fully vaccinated Norwegians can travel freely without quarantine requirements when returning home, but with the nearest open border crossing a couple of hours away, no influx of customers is noticeable.

- The border here is closed, and then the Norwegians do not choose this store, says Niklas Ideskär.
