Defending champions Brazil beat Germany 4-2 thanks in part to a hat-trick from Richarlison when they entered the men's tournament Thursday in the Tokyo Olympics.

On the occasion of this remake of the final of the Rio Olympics in 2016, won on penalties by the Brazilians (1-1, 5 tab to 4), the Seleçao opened the scoring with a two-step strike from Richarlison (7th).

The Everton striker returned with a header (22nd) before deceiving German goalkeeper Florian Müller (30th) a third time.

But the Germans reduced the score in the second period by Nadiem Amiri (56th), then Ragnar Ache (84th), despite a numerical inferiority after the exclusion of their captain Maximilian Arnold for an obstruction on the indestructible Dani Alves, 38 years old.

The Brazilians finally secured their victory thanks to a goal from Paulinho in added time (90 + 5) and take the lead of Group D.
