From August, a sanitary pass will be compulsory to sit on a café terrace, go to the campsite or board a train.

On this last point, the SNCF assured that regular checks would be carried out by the agents "in particular during peak periods".

SNCF will carry out "massive" checks of the health pass as soon as it becomes compulsory in long-distance trains in early August, the operator said Thursday.

"A ticket, a mask and a health pass: these are the three elements for taking the train from the beginning of August," said SNCF Voyageurs CEO Christophe Fanichet.

The device will be based on "massive checks, everywhere and at any time of the trip," said SNCF in a press release: essentially at the quay when boarding, but also on board, or when getting off the train.

Customers will be informed of these obligations by email and SMS when purchasing the ticket and prior to their trip.

The quayside checks will be carried out "by SNCF agents from different professions and will be able to benefit from the support of the police, in particular during peak periods", specified the SNCF.

No health pass for the last weekend of July

The precise date of implementation at the beginning of August of this obligation has yet to be announced by the government: the health pass is therefore not compulsory in July or during the crossover weekend of July 31-August 1, SNCF said.

The pass will be compulsory to board a TGV (Inoui and Ouigo), an Intercités or an international long-distance train departing from France.

TER and Transiliens are not affected.

The health pass consists either of a negative test (PCR or antigen) of less than 48 hours currently, or of proof that we have been contaminated and that we have been cured of Covid-19 (positive PCR or antigen test of at least 11 days and less than six months), either in a complete vaccination schedule, or 7 days after the second dose for France.
