An assassination attempt on the country's president was prevented in Madagascar

Radio RFI reports this with reference to the data of the prosecutor's office.

The detainees were the Frenchman Philippe Francois and the Franco-Malagsetian Paul Rafanoharana.

The Prosecutor General of the Court of Appeal noted that the men would be charged with creating a threat to state security. 

Details of the arrest or evidence of the intentions of the detainees were not reported.

On Tuesday, July 20, unidentified persons attacked the interim President of Mali, Assimi Goit, with a knife.

The attack took place while praying at a mosque in Bamako.
