SVT Nyheter Norrbotten has previously reported on the sandy beach in Kurravaara that has been laid out without a permit.

Now it turns out that there is another case in Kiruna municipality where large amounts of gravel have been laid out without land permits.

In the present case, however, it is more than five times as much gravel.

Opens a new supervisory case

A person who participated in the work at northern Luossajärvisjön wrote in early July on social media about how they "cleaned the rest area" and "filled with 400 tons of gravel".

SVT Nyheter Norrbotten has sought the person for a comment, but he does not want to stand up for an interview.

Kiruna's acting building permit manager Athan Metaxiotis tells SVT that the administration has not been aware of the activities and that no permits have been applied for.

- It may be that a land permit or a decision on exemption from the beach protection rules is needed and therefore we are now creating a supervisory matter to visit the site and see what has been done and if it is subject to a permit, says Athan Metaxiotis.

"Right should be right"

Sten Nylén (SJVP), chairman of the Environment and Building Committee, agrees.

- It is good that you do a check of the information.

Right should be right.

Especially as we are also investigating the reported sandy beach in Kurravaara, he says.
