The Blue House said that the police are continuing to check Son's last traces in relation to the case of Son Jung-min, a medical student who disappeared after drinking with a friend at the Han River Park in Seoul and was found dead.

The Blue House responded as follows to a public petition calling for an investigation into the truth of Son's death.

The petition has more than 500,000 signatures.

The police, which had been investigating Son's death, held a committee meeting last month to review the necessity of a reinforced investigation and whether the case should be closed. As a result, it has been decided to close the investigation.

The Blue House said, "The police did their best to reconstruct the situation on the day, such as analyzing a total of 126 CCTVs, securing 193 vehicles entering and leaving the park, investigating 16 major witnesses, analyzing the underwater structure and soil at the site, analyzing the call history of those involved, and searching the site." “According to the investigations so far, no crime-related circumstances have been confirmed,” he explained.

However, the Blue House said, "In addition to closing the case, the police have designated one strong team and are continuing to check Son's last actions before his death."

The Blue House added, "I pray for the well-being of the deceased and offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved family," adding, "The police will do their best to protect the safety of the people."
