July 21, 2021 "He looks like my husband, he is Paolo, he is Paolo, because he has a dimple here, his hair is further back, but it is still him, in the photo of the news I recognize him even better. He is Paolo, and he is recognizable by me at the bottom of the video, but here she has her hair further back. " This was stated by Maurizia Bonini, ex wife of Paolo Bellini, accused in the new trial on the massacre of 2 August 1980, confirming the recognition to the Court of Assizes, after having reviewed in the courtroom the video of the foreign tourist shot in the station in Bologna on the morning of the bomb. The defendant had left the courtroom shortly before the witness.

Maurizia Bonini is testifying covered by a screen, at her request and after the Court of Assizes has decided to do so. "We give a favorable opinion to the testimony with the screen - said the Pg - because it is a very delicate situation, we know the story of Bellini and it is about family ties, concerns emerge and the Court must ensure the authenticity of the testimony".

Sentence, which sparked a skirmish with the lawyers of the former National Avant-garde. Even Bellini, after the decision of the court, stood up and said: "I leave the courtroom during the hearing of my family, so there are no problems, my lawyers never have the right to see the witness".

"He told a lie, he deceived everyone - continued Maurizia Bonini - I could not imagine that he was there in that situation, and Daniela", that is the niece of Paolo Bellini, who was in the car with him on the way to Rimini, "there it was, you have to ask him where he put the baby, and even if he arrived late, it was August 2nd. " The reference of the witness is to the movements of the former exponent of the National Avant-garde, the day of August 2, 1980.

Responding to the questions of the deputy pg Umberto Palma, Bonini states that he said "unfortunately it is he" when he recognized for the first time her ex-husband - during the interrogation of November 12, 2019 - in the video recorded by a tourist on the day of the attack because, in fact, "I could not imagine that he was there in that situation". Not to mention, he adds, that at the time Bellini "had not yet made the criminal career" of which he was the protagonist in the following years. "But he had already killed Alceste Campanile in 1975", the President of the Court, Francesco Caruso, reminds her, but Bonini replies that in 1980 he did not know about that murder.

"I told a lie, I apologize to everyone". And again: "Yes, at this point, I can say that at the time I declared false", Maurizia Bonini admitted referring to the fact that when Bellini was investigated for the massacre, she confirmed her alibi by saying that he had come to take her to Rimini around 9-9.30 in the morning, to then leave with her, her two small children and her granddaughter for the Passo del Tonale, therefore times not compatible with her presence at the station at the time of the bomb explosion, at 10.25.

Today, however, Bonini said: "I don't remember what time my husband arrived to pick me up in Rimini, but I do remember that my mother returned late to the hotel". Maurizia's mother (Eglia Rinaldi, deceased), in fact, as it emerged during the interrogations, returned to Torre Pedrera, a town near Rimini, late for lunch, so much so that there was a discussion with her husband. This version was also confirmed by Bonini's brother, Bellini's former brother-in-law. "The 9.15 am - explained Maurizia, answering the questions of Bellini's lawyers - told me my father-in-law (Aldo Bellini, ed)".

The daughter

"Since I am in this trial, I feel I want to tell everyone that it was my decision to testify, because this affair has upset my life, I think it is right to give testimony for something so serious, but above all because I think about the victims , regardless of what the outcome of this thing will be, although I am the daughter of Paolo Bellini, I go with my head held high because I had a completely different life ". These are the words of Silvia Bonini, daughter of Paolo Bellini, the former National Avant-garde accused of complicity in the massacre of 2 August 1980. That day, Silvia Bonini, who explains that she changed her surname about twenty years ago, taking that of her mother and having completely interrupted relations with his father, he was only 9 years old. In front of the PCs he explained that he did not remember anything of the day ofattack, much less the trip made by car with his parents, his brother Guido and his cousin Daniela, from Rimini to Passo del Tonale. However, she declared, her voice broken by emotion, that she hoped that "all the testimonies could shed light for the victims. For my family it was a great suffering, I really felt like coming today, it was easier not to answer, but I have a conscience, because we are all touched by this thing ".but I have a conscience, because we are all touched by this thing ".but I have a conscience, because we are all touched by this thing ".
