The White House announced that President Joe Biden decided to extend the national emergency with respect to Lebanon due to the continued activities that threaten US national security, while Tel Aviv responded yesterday with artillery to the launch of two missiles from Lebanon towards northern Israel.

The White House statement clarified that the decision to extend the extension came as a result of the continuation of some activities, such as Iran’s continued transfer of weapons to Hezbollah, which increasingly include advanced weapons, and the White House indicated that this undermines Lebanese sovereignty and contributes to instability in the region at the political and economic levels.

The White House stated that this fact "poses a significant and unusual threat to the security and foreign policy of the United States."

On the other hand, the United Nations forces mission in southern Lebanon, "UNIFIL", said yesterday that it had detected, at dawn on Tuesday, the firing of rockets from the vicinity of the Lebanese village of "Al-Qulayla" towards northern Israel, and "UNIFIL" added that it later detected Israeli artillery fire towards Lebanese territory. .

On the other hand, the Israeli army said in a tweet that two missiles were fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel,” adding that the Iron Dome air defense system intercepted one of the two missiles, while the second landed in an open area.

No Lebanese party has claimed responsibility for firing the two missiles.

In such cases, Israel usually accuses Hezbollah, an ally of Iran, which has exchanged hostility with Tel Aviv.

Israeli Chief of Staff General Aviv Kohavi said that Israel would respond secretly and publicly to any breach of its borders, and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also warned that Tel Aviv would make anyone who tampered with its sovereignty and security pay a heavy price.

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz also held the Lebanese state fully responsible for launching two rockets from southern Lebanon towards the western Galilee.

Gantz added that Israel will not allow the political, economic and social crisis in Lebanon to pose any threat to its security, he said.
