An ultrasound on Tuesday confirmed the pregnancy of the female panda loaned by China to France.

A second ultrasound, scheduled for Friday, could reveal the presence of a second fetus, twin births being common in pandas.

The delivery is scheduled for late July / early August.

A Happy Event.

Huan Huan, the female panda loaned by China to the Beauval ZooParc in France, is once again pregnant.

The news was made official on Tuesday evening: the ultrasound confirmed the presence of a tiny embryo.

The plantigrade female had already given birth to a baby panda in 2017. Today, Yuan Meng weighs more than one hundred kilograms.

If all goes well, this new birth should take place in the middle of summer.

"When our veterinarian passed this ultrasound machine on Huan Huan's stomach and finally we could see this tiny baby, it was a wonderful moment", reports to Europe 1 Delphine Delord, the deputy director of the zoo of Beauval.

"Maybe we'll see another baby on the ultrasound on Friday"

“Huan Huan was a little nervous, a little aggressive. She didn't really want to. So we could only look at one part of the uterus, one horn and we still have a horn to explore because in 50 % of the cases, the pregnancies of pandas are twins ", indicates this person in charge.

She also recalls that Huan Huan is a twin herself.

"So maybe we will see another baby on the ultrasound on Friday, that would be exceptional!"

"We are delighted with the arrival of this baby panda who will arrive very quickly, since the birth is scheduled for next weekend, around July 30-31, or August 1-2," continues Delphine Delord.

"The pregnancy of pandas is extremely fast."
