The ministry stated that eating healthy food and drinking an adequate amount of water is one of the habits that enhance the health of the individual, because it strengthens immunity and reduces the chances of contracting chronic diseases and infectious diseases, including the emerging “Corona” virus.

On its official website, the ministry summarized a healthy lifestyle and food that helps strengthen immunity, in seven nutritional tips based on eating fresh and unprocessed foods on a daily basis, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes such as lentils and beans, nuts and whole grains (such as corn, oats, wheat and brown rice). Along with foods of animal origin, such as meat, fish, eggs and milk.

The first nutritional advice included the need to adhere to eating two cups of fruit per day (four servings), and 2.5 cups of vegetables (five servings), with the possibility of eating red meat one to two times a week, and poultry (2-3 times) a week, while The second tip was to drink enough water, ranging from eight to 10 glasses of water every day.

The ministry also advised the importance of eating less salt and sugars, and making sure when cooking and preparing food to reduce the amount of salt and spices rich in sodium, such as soy sauce, noting that the amount of salt consumed daily should not exceed five grams (about one teaspoon), with a preference for salt. She stressed the need to reduce the consumption of soft drinks and sweetened drinks (such as fruit juices), and the use of fresh fruits instead of sweetened snack foods such as biscuits, cakes and chocolate.
