The objective of 40 million first doses of vaccines against Covid-19 injected "should be reached at the end of July", that is to say with a month in advance on the initial table, announced Tuesday Jean Castex in front of The national assembly.

In mid-June, the Prime Minister said he was aiming for the 40 million mark at the end of August, as well as that of 35 million French people fully vaccinated at the same time.

As of Monday, 37,809,568 people had received at least one dose and 30,788,868 were considered fully vaccinated, according to the Directorate General of Health.

Asked by the president of the socialist group Valérie Rabault, Mr. Castex indicated that France currently had a "stock of 6 million doses".

"And until the end of August are expected to arrive in the order of 4.5 million doses per week, 2.5 of which will be reserved for the administration of second doses," he said, while Ms. Rabault was concerned about the insufficiency of these figures.

Mr. Castex was also questioned by the leader of the deputies LR Damien Abad who criticized him for the "slowness", the "sometimes lack of pedagogy and the lack of anticipation" which has, according to the elected representative of Ain , caused "three months behind our neighbors" in the vaccination campaign.

Believing that the "health pass does not pass", Mr. Abad also called on Mr. Castex to postpone its entry into force to August 30.
