In response to the shuttle bus explosion in Pakistan that caused serious casualties to Chinese personnel, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian briefed the progress of the personnel treatment at a regular press conference on July 19.

He said that a seriously injured person has undergone craniotomy and is currently under medical observation, while the other 26 injured persons are in the process of recovering from treatment.

  Zhao Lijian said, “Regarding the progress of the investigation, the relevant departments of Pakistan are fully investigating the incident and have notified the Chinese side of the preliminary investigation. The relevant technical experts of China and Pakistan have also jointly surveyed the scene. The incident is currently under further investigation.”

  He said that the incident caused 27 Chinese personnel to be injured, and Pakistan provided the best medical treatment for the wounded.

The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and the inter-departmental working group to Pakistan are negotiating with Pakistan to properly handle the remains of the nine victims.

  On July 14, the Chinese commuter bus for the Dasu Hydropower Station Project in the Cape Province of Pakistan exploded, causing many Chinese and Pakistani casualties.
