In Côte d'Ivoire, it was a day of celebration this Tuesday, July 20 for the Muslim faithful.

Believers celebrated Eid al-Kebir, also called Tabaski in West Africa.

President Alassane Ouattara took the opportunity to call for the continuation of the national reconciliation process.

The head of state had not spoken on the subject since the return to the country of Laurent Gbagbo.

The statement is short, but important, because until now Alassane Ouattara had remained silent on the political climate and national reconciliation, officially underway since

Laurent Gbagbo's return to Côte d'Ivoire

Just after the Tabaski celebration prayer at the Great Mosque of Riviera Golfe, the Head of State urged his fellow citizens to continue the process of national cohesion.

While these last ten days, the exchanges by media interposed between the presidential party RHDP and the opposition tandem FPI-PDCI have above all sounded like a return to the usual rivalries.

This celebration is a celebration of gathering, of peace, of harmony,"

said Alassane Ouattara.

May the steps that have been taken for social cohesion, for reconciliation, continue to grow stronger.

May Côte d'Ivoire continue to live in peace!

I would like to reassure our compatriots that by the grace of the Lord, we are ensuring the safety of our fellow citizens

Since the return with great fanfare of Laurent Gbagbo, the two men have still not spoken.

The country is still awaiting a timetable for the establishment of a major national dialogue.
