(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Canada plans to reopen entry for foreigners from August

  China News Service, Toronto, July 19 (Reporter Yu Ruidong) The Canadian government announced plans to reopen entry to foreigners on July 19.

From September 7, all passengers who have completed all the vaccination procedures for the new crown vaccine approved by the Canadian side for 14 days and meet other relevant requirements will be allowed to enter Canada.

  As a "prelude", the Canadian border will implement a series of relaxation measures starting from August 9, which mainly include -

  American citizens and permanent residents who meet the above vaccination requirements can enter Canada from the United States.

Canadian officials stated that this move reflects the close ties between Canada and the United States;

  The mandatory quarantine measures for all inbound air passengers at designated hotels for 3 nights will be cancelled, but passengers still need to submit a self-isolation plan; all inbound passengers must use the officially designated ArriveCAN program to submit their travel information in advance, but fully vaccinated passengers are When arriving in Canada, they can be exempted from entry virus testing and isolation;

  International flight entry points will be based on the existing four airports in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver, and five airports in Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Edmonton will be restored.

However, Canada's entry ban on direct commercial or private passenger flights from India will be extended to August 21.

  Currently, Canada’s officially recognized new crown vaccines include those developed by Pfizer, Modena, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.

  The Canadian Public Health Agency emphasized that one of the prerequisites for the implementation of the above-mentioned relaxation measures is that the situation of the Canadian epidemic will still be favorable at that time.

At the same time, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not, all inbound passengers must still provide proof of virus testing before boarding.

  The Canadian Tourism Board and the Tourism Industry Association both welcomed and excited the government's measures to ease entry restrictions, saying that this is a positive and critical step for the recovery of tourism and commercial activities.

  The Canadian Ministry of Transportation has recently announced that from November 1 this year, cruise ships can resume operations in Canadian waters under the premise of complying with epidemic prevention requirements.

Canadian officials announced in early February this year that they would impose a one-year operating ban on cruise ships and cruise ships in the Arctic.

Before the epidemic, the cruise industry could bring more than 4 billion Canadian dollars in revenue to Canada each year, directly or indirectly creating about 30,000 jobs.

  Canada has implemented the first-phase measures to relax the entry restrictions on July 5. Inbound passengers who have been fully vaccinated against the new crown can be exempted from compulsory isolation and virus testing on the eighth day of entry.

  Canadian authorities have banned most travellers who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents from entering the country on March 18, 2020. Foreigners who can enter mainly include work visa holders and international students.

From March 21 of that year, the border between Canada and the United States was also "closed" to a limited extent, and "non-essential cross-border travel" for tourism and leisure purposes was prohibited.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced that the Canadian-US border may open in mid-August.

  As of the evening of July 19, local time, Canada had reported a total of approximately 1.424 million cases, with an increase of 330 in a single day; approximately 1.393 million recovered cases, 26,504 deaths, and 4608 active cases.

The country has completed about 45.65 million doses of vaccination. About 70% of the total population has received at least one dose, and more than 50% have been fully vaccinated.
