China News Agency, Washington, July 19 (Reporter Chen Mengtong) US President Biden met with visiting King Abdullah II of Jordan at the White House on the 19th.

The two sides discussed issues of stability and anti-terrorism in the Middle East, Syria and other regions.

  In early April of this year, Jordan announced that it had thwarted an activity that endangered national security.

According to the Jordanian security agency, Prince Hamza bin Hussein and others were involved in the incident and connected with foreign forces.

  During the meeting that day, Biden once again reiterated the US's "firm support" for Jordan and Abdullah II, and looked forward to strengthening bilateral cooperation in many areas.

  According to the White House statement, the two sides held consultations on the issue of peace and stability in the Middle East.

Biden said that the US "strongly supports" the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli issue through the "two-state solution" and supports contacts between Jordan and the new Israeli government.

  Biden and Abdullah II also discussed issues such as providing humanitarian assistance to Syria.

The United States affirmed Jordan’s role in promoting regional stability and welcomed the recent tripartite meeting held in Baghdad by Iraq, Jordan and Egypt.

  During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the challenges posed by the new crown epidemic to their respective countries and the global economy, and focused on the possibility of strengthening cooperation in infrastructure investment and Jordan's desalination project.
