“Advisor Scholle will visit Kiev on July 20-21 and Warsaw on July 21-23 to strengthen the strategic nature of US relations with Ukraine and Poland.
He will continue our diplomatic negotiations with Ukraine and Poland on a number of issues, including our joint concern with the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, energy security, as well as ongoing reforms, ”the State Department said in a statement.
In Kiev, he will meet with senior government officials to discuss US support for “countering Russian aggression” and advancing economic and anti-corruption reforms.
In Warsaw, Scholle will discuss strategic bilateral and regional issues.
Earlier, the former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States and France, Oleg Shamshur, urged to prepare "for the worst-case scenario," according to which Nord Stream 2 will be put into operation.
In Kiev, they also said that they did not hear from the United States and Germany specifics on countering the "threats" from the launch of the pipeline.
