July 19, 2021 The coronavirus vaccine is capable of altering the human genome, thereby damaging the image of God in it. This was declared by Bishop Porphyry, vicar of the patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, speaking to the parishioners of the monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior. This is one of the monasteries with a particular status, the highest in the hierarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church since it is directly under the administration of the patriarch.

The bishop said Christians can decide for themselves whether to be vaccinated against COVID-19. However, the bishop later specified that they should be guided by the fact that the vaccine is a "genetically modified product" containing RNA proteins and matrix DNA.

"These agents are incorporated into the human genome, alter it, modify it and rewrite it. At this point, a responsible Christian must stop. (...) To what extent has the image of God remained intact in him and who can ensure that this intervention has not caused irreversible damage to our image of God? " - asked the bishop.

The prelate also claims that the vaccine contains metal nanoparticles with a number of properties: "Did the person who experienced these interventions really remain a sovereign individual, or has the control center been moved elsewhere?" - noted Porfirij. Meanwhile, the video with his statement has been removed from Youtube. Vladimir Legojda, the church's relations officer with society and the mass media of the Moscow Patriarchate, distanced himself from Porphyry's statements, stating that the bishop, despite being "a worthy religious and expert father superior", "is not professionally competent in the field of genetics ".
