Biden accuses China of protecting cyber-attacks

US President Joe Biden.

US President Joe Biden accused the Chinese authorities of "protecting the perpetrators of cyber-attacks targeting companies", after Washington and its allies condemned earlier what it called "the malicious attacks of Beijing".

"My understanding is that the Chinese government, as in Russia, does not commit cyber attacks, but rather protects those who carry them out," Biden said on the sidelines of a speech at the White House.

In another matter, Biden said that a price increase is expected to be temporary, but his administration understands that not curbing inflation in the long term will pose a real challenge to the US economy.

Biden added that he told Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell that the US central bank is independent and should take all steps it deems necessary to support a strong and long-term recovery.
