In the Hyogo prefectural governor's election, which became a battle between newcomers for the first time in 20 years, Mr. Motohiko Saito, the former chief of the finance section of Osaka Prefecture, recommended by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Nippon Ishin no Kai, ensured the first election.

The Hyogo prefectural governor's election will soon begin to be counted.

In NHK's preliminary situation coverage and exit polls targeting voters who voted on the 18th, Mr. Motohiko Saito, who was recommended by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Nippon Ishin no Kai, is far ahead of the other four.

In addition, Mr. Saito exceeded the number of people who voted before the deadline by the 17th, and it is expected that the number of votes will increase steadily in the future, so Mr. Saito's first election was confirmed.

Mr. Saito is 43 years old from Kobe city.

After working as a director of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, he was the chief of the finance section of Osaka Prefecture until March.

In this election, the incumbent Governor Ido, who served for five terms, announced his retirement, and newcomers fought for the first time in 20 years. It was a one-on-one fight.

In addition, although the Liberal Democratic Party recommended Mr. Saito, the support of local councilors was divided between Mr. Saito and Mr. Kanazawa.

In the election campaign, Mr. Saito appealed to reform the prefectural government, revitalize the economy and strengthen measures against the new corona, and solidified about 50% of the supporters of the LDP and 70% of the supporters of the Nippon Ishin no Kai. In addition, it has gained widespread support from non-partisan groups and has secured its first election.
