The Iraqi painter Abdul Rahman Muhammad, whose paintings adorned the palaces of the late President Saddam Hussein, continues his painting work after he moved with his family to Turkey to live there.

Muhammad, 53, told Anadolu Agency that he moved with his family five years ago to live in the city of Samsun (north), and turned one of the rooms of his house into a workshop for drawing his oil paintings.

He added that he has been drawing for 36 years, and that drawing is his hobby.

He explained, "When I was young in Baghdad, my paintings were admired by many, and as a result I was invited to Saddam Hussein's palace, and I painted on the walls of the palace, and then I painted pictures of Saddam in specific areas of the city."

He pointed out that he is still a well-known painter in Iraq, and that many Iraqis send him their personal pictures and draw them on oil paintings.

He indicated that he lost a number of his relatives in Iraq during the period of internal conflict, and as a result he moved with his family to Turkey, and that he is happy to live in it, and he feels that it is his country.
