The President of the DRC and current President of the African Union Félix Tshisekedi began a tour of West Africa on July 15.

His journey led him successively to Ghana, Guinea and finally Guinea-Bissau.

The situation in Mali, the difficult relations between the Guinean Alpha Condé and his Bissau-Guinean counterpart Umaro Sissoco Embalo were mentioned during the meeting at the head of Presidents Tshisekedi and Embalo.

After Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, it is the turn of

Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi,

also current President of the African Union, to set foot on Bissau-Guinean soil.

The visit is part of the bilateral framework, but the situation in Mali where President Embalo wishes to become personally involved in the search for solutions was mentioned. The other stumbling block mentioned during the one-on-one meeting was the appalling relationship between Guinean President Alpha Condé and his Bissau-Guinean counterpart Umaro Sissoco Embalo. On this specific point, President Tshisekedi, who was received in Conakry on Friday, declares that there is no problem between the two countries. "

 I didn't know they had a problem,

" said the Congolese president.

It is a relationship like one can have between an elder and his younger brother.

Guinea-Bissau and Guinea Conakry are two fraternal countries, two fraternal peoples and that is the essential for me, the rest are details

 ”.

President Embalo puts this dispute into perspective and says that there is no cloud between him and his elder, Alpha Condé.

Last September, President Condé took the decision to unilaterally close his borders with his neighbors, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone.

This situation had been the basis of an exchange of very harsh words between Presidents Embalo and Condé during the 59th Summit of Heads of State in Accra.

The two Guineas share a common border of 324 km.

Before this grandiose ceremony, the two heads of state had a one-to-one meeting followed by a working session with the official delegations of the two countries.
