For the chief medical officer of the United States, the situation is becoming worrying.

Invited on television sets this Sunday, Doctor Vivek Murthy said he was worried about Covid cases which have been on the rise for two weeks.

I'm afraid of what awaits us this fall if we do not reverse the trend,

 " he said.

He mentioned in particular the southern states, where a large part of the population remains opposed or reluctant to vaccination.

A situation that creates a divide in the country between vaccinated and unvaccinated.

Dr Murthy assures us that the cases observed in recent weeks are mainly due to the Delta variant and especially recorded in unvaccinated patients.

This upward trend is pushing the authorities in some localities to reinstate restrictions.

In Los Angeles, for example, the population is invited to wear the mask again indoors, even for people who have been vaccinated.

A measure criticized by some who believe that the return of restrictions could even more discourage those who hesitate to be vaccinated thinking that it is of no use.

This week, the director of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control said the country was now facing what she called the epidemic of the unvaccinated.
