Russian vaccines against coronavirus are effective in combating the disease, despite the fact that now we have to deal with a new strain of "delta", said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

On the air of the Russia 1 TV channel, he stated that a lot of fakes on this topic are spreading on the Internet, but the authorities are working with large amounts of real data on the sick and vaccinated.

“This is not just some kind of reasoning on the topic.

We know exactly, to the last person, to the last figure, how many fell ill, how many of them were vaccinated, how they were ill, how seriously they were ill, were they hospitalized or not, ”said the mayor.

“We are not theorizing, we know for sure, and this knowledge gives an accurate conclusion that vaccination helps.

Despite the fact that we are dealing with a new strain, with a "delta", nevertheless, the vaccine is quite effective against this disease, "Sobyanin emphasized.

The mayor also drew attention to the fact that the city managed to fulfill the task of vaccination, largely due to the responsible attitude of business and enterprises.

According to him, in the spheres of health and education, the percentage of vaccinated employees is close to 70%.

“Our task was to get about 2 million people vaccinated in the near future.

And now we see the result.

Over the past six months, only 1.7 million Muscovites were vaccinated in our country, but over the last month another 2 million have been added to them, just the 2 million we are talking about, ”he said.

Sobyanin noted that the situation with coronavirus in Moscow remains difficult, but over the month the number of newly diagnosed COVID-19 patients has almost halved compared to peak values, and the number of hospitalizations is also decreasing.

According to the mayor, this was achieved thanks to the measures taken and the awareness of the townspeople.

According to the operational headquarters for combating the spread of coronavirus, 4,357 new cases of the disease were detected in the capital over the past day, 1,293 people were hospitalized, and 106 patients died.

There are 577 people on ventilators.

At the same time, 7283 people recovered per day.

At the peak of the third wave, more than 9000 new cases were recorded in the city for two days in a row (June 18 and 19), and the number of patients on mechanical ventilation increased from the middle of the month (June 14 - 457) and reached a maximum in early July (July 5 - 735).

In turn, the city health committee of St. Petersburg said on the eve that the city has set a daily record for the total number of vaccinations against coronavirus.

“Yesterday 12,208 residents of St. Petersburg received the second vaccination.

The first - 20 107 people.

Thus, the city has set a record for the total number of injections - 32,360 injections were performed, - the report says.

“In total, 1,172,283 people were initially vaccinated in St. Petersburg, of which 811,460 have completed the vaccination cycle”.

Meanwhile, Alexander Semyonov, head of the Vector branch in Yekaterinburg, spoke about the nature of the displacement of the original virus strains by more infectious mutations: “If a more aggressive variant of the virus appears, it infects more people, while other variants of the virus do not multiply, they spread more slowly and leave the stage.

And this is completely natural. "

According to the specialist, the virus becomes more "effective" due to increased infectivity, but the severity of the disease does not progress, since "the ideal parasite does not seek to kill its host."

Over the past day, 25,018 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Russia, of which the largest number is in Moscow (4,357), the Moscow region (2,554) and St. Petersburg (1941).

During the same time, 18,886 people recovered, 764 patients died.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 5,958,133 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the country, 5,341,231 patients have recovered.

148,419 people died from complications due to coronavirus infection and concomitant diseases.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, over 159.1 million laboratory tests for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus have been carried out in the country, almost 1.2 million people remain under medical supervision.
