The Emergency, Crises and Disasters Committee in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi warned citizens and residents against dealing with traveling butchers, who offer the service of sacrificing sacrifices in homes, stressing that this procedure is a violation of the protocol to confront the pandemic.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority has begun strict control procedures on slaughterhouses and livestock markets in preparation for Eid al-Adha, while the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has allocated three applications on smart phones to provide a service of sacrificial slaughter, which are “my sacrifice”, “the island’s sacrifices”, and “the Emirates sacrifices”.

In detail, the Emergency, Crises and Disasters Committee in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, yesterday, in cooperation with the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, adopted general preventive and precautionary measures for sacrifices on the blessed Eid al-Adha, in order to preserve public health and the safety of community members.

In accordance with the procedures announced by the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office, sacrificial donation services must be completed by charitable institutions located within the country, using three applications licensed by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, which are “My Slaughter,” “Al-Jazeera sacrifices,” and “Emirates sacrifices.” On the necessity of slaughtering the sacrifice in slaughterhouses determined by the local authorities, which ensure the application of precautionary measures, and provide their services to customers while they are in their vehicles.

According to the approved procedures, coordination will be made with charitable organizations within the country, regarding the collection of the value of the sacrifices and their donations, provided that the procedures for slaughtering the sacrificial animals are carried out in the approved slaughterhouses within the country, which provide their services to customers from inside the vehicle.

The procedures emphasized the prevention of dealing with roving workers that offer the service of slaughtering sacrifices in homes, violating all those who deal with them, and taking measures of caution when distributing the sacrifice among family, relatives and neighbors, so as not to be a cause of the spread of the virus.

In implementation of the protocol announced by the National Authority for Emergencies, Crises and Disasters, regarding the celebrations of the blessed Eid Al-Adha, the concerned authorities began evaluating the procedures of slaughterhouses and livestock markets, inspecting them during the day of Eid, and organizing the movement to ensure non-congestion and smooth service provision, with an emphasis on preventing dealing with workers. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority stressed the importance of slaughtering sacrifices in slaughterhouses to ensure food safety, warning of the dangers of indiscriminate slaughter or dealing with roving butchers, in order to enhance the bio-security system.

The authority explained that slaughtering in slaughterhouses enhances public health, as slaughterhouses provide a set of elements that make the process of slaughter in them a necessity, the most important of which are combating pollution during slaughter, preparing for the processing of carcasses in a clean and healthy environment from pollution, in addition to veterinary examination before and after slaughter.

She pointed out that veterinary examination inside slaughterhouses determines the validity of carcasses for human consumption, monitors disease pests and scientific evaluation of their seriousness, and determines cases that require complete or partial execution, and effectively contributes to controlling diseases transmitted through meat.

The authority called not to use wandering butchers, in order to avoid the possibility of transmitting diseases to the individual and the family. It also called for avoiding entering livestock pens and slaughter halls in slaughterhouses, and a commitment to waiting in public waiting places, while avoiding direct contact with live animals and their fluids and secretions.
