17 July 2021Max Verstappen won the first 'sprint race' in F1 history at the Silverstone circuit, taking pole for the British GP scheduled for tomorrow.



The Dutch Red Bull driver, who wins three points in the overall standings, preceded the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton (two points) and Valtteri Bottas (one point).



Fourth was Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc who preceded Norris, Ricciardo and Alonso. To close the top ten on the grid Vettel, Russell and Ocon. The other Ferrari of Carlos Sainz is eleventh.



In the 'sprint race' Hamilton started with the best position on the grid in light of the best time recorded in Friday's qualifying.
