In Vietnam, the fact that a Korean in his 50s was cremated after he died of Corona 19 is belatedly known, raising anxiety in the Korean community.

According to the Consulate General of Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam and the Korean Association of Ho Chi Minh, a 58-year-old Korean man was cremated right after his death while receiving treatment for Corona 19 this year.

The man was confirmed early this month and was isolated in a living treatment facility, his condition worsened and he was transferred to a large hospital for treatment, but eventually died.

Ho Chi Minh City authorities immediately cremated the body in accordance with quarantine regulations.

According to local quarantine regulations, people who died of an infectious disease must be cremated within 24 hours.

However, it is known that the Ho Chi Minh authorities cremated the body immediately without notifying the Korean consulate or the Korean community of the death.

The deceased lived alone in Ho Chi Minh City, with other family members said to be in South Korea.

The Consulate General of Ho Chi Minh City and the Korean Association later confirmed this fact after inquiring with the Vietnamese authorities after receiving a call from another Korean confirmed patient who was quarantined at the same time as the death of his friend that his whereabouts were unknown.

A Korean citizen said, "After the confirmed person moved to the quarantine facility, contact was lost, and after death, the news that the cremation was done without notifying the consulate general is known, and the residents are trembling with anxiety."
