In the Central African Republic, President Touadéra launched, Friday, July 16, the judicial reopening.

During his speech, he mentioned the creation of the Truth, Justice, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (CVJRR) whose eleven commissioners were sworn in at the beginning of July.

The CVJRR is one of the recommendations to end the crisis of the Bangui Forum of 2015, taken up in the Khartoum agreements of 2019. The eleven commissioners met to compose its bureau.

Edith Douzima, a lawyer recognized in Bangui, takes the head of this long-awaited CVJRR.

She wants to get to work as quickly as possible: “

I believe that there is no more time to waste and we must already start to lay the foundations for our actions

.

"

Recommended by the Bangui Forum in 2015 and included in the Khartoum agreements of 2019, it should in particular make it possible to break the spiral of impunity: “

It is the question of impunity that is at the origin of ills of this country.

We believe that we must work a lot for there to be justice.

 "

Another objective, that of reconciliation: “

Social justice is really torn apart because of the repeated crises in the country and therefore we think that we must put together our skills and our expertise.

We must put everything in place so that there is true reconciliation and not lip service.

 "

National consultations were carried out with 2,000 Central Africans.

Among the recommendations is that of taking into account the serious crimes committed since 1959: “

Everyone expects a lot from this Commission and I believe that it should be given the means to do so.

Without the means, there is not much we can do

.

"

This new, newly formed team plans to hold its first working meeting on Monday, July 19.
