The scandal of the clandestine delivery of weapons by Argentina to the Bolivian military who had deposed Evo Morales after the disputed elections of 2019 is growing.

The case came to light on July 9, following the discovery at the Argentine Embassy in La Paz of a letter of thanks from the Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivian Air Force at the time for the material. delivered, cartridges, tear gas and riot grenades, clearly intended to suppress demonstrations favorable to Morales.

The shipment in question left Argentina and arrived in Bolivia without being declared, on November 12, 2019, on the end of the presidency of Mauricio Macri.

Some of these weapons were found in a police depot in La Paz this week.

Following a complaint filed by the government of Alberto Fernández, the current head of state of Argentina, a prosecutor decided on Friday July 16 to open legal proceedings against the former president and his ministers of Security and Defense at the time.

Other indictments could follow.

It is not excluded that Macri will also be prosecuted in Bolivia, where an investigation has also been opened.

For the moment, Macri, who is in Europe, and his former ministers deny everything altogether.
