Afghanistan: faced with the country's security degradation, France repatriates its nationals

About thirty French nationals took the special flight chartered by France as well as about fifty Afghans affiliated to the embassy.

The plane chartered by France for French nationals and employees of the French Embassy in Kabul left the Afghan capital at 8 a.m. local time on Saturday.

A free flight to repatriate people who wanted to follow the advice of the embassy which asked French nationals to leave Afghanistan because of the deterioration in security.

At Kabul airport, it was with emotion that the passengers of this plane bound for Paris left Afghanistan.

In the airport parking lot, dozens of families are ready to fly to

France

and say goodbye to their loved ones.

Many wipe away their tears by kissing their parents or their brothers and sisters who have come to accompany them one last time.

Baker Arefi is a manager for the French Embassy and leaves with his family: “ 

Given the situation which has deteriorated in recent days, I have decided to leave Afghanistan.

On the one hand, I am happy and on the other hand, it is difficult because I am leaving my country, I am leaving my parents.

But I'm happy to go to France.

I'll be safe.

I will bring my family, my children to safety.

 "

Mahdijaan Husseini taught at the French Institute in Afghanistan and at the University of Kabul targeted in an attack last year: “ 

I taught in a department that was facing insecurity so our hearts were always facing threat. Now I have the honor to continue my studies at master's and doctoral level. For me, this is a big change in my personal and professional life. I am very happy.

 "

About thirty French nationals took the special flight chartered by France as well as about fifty Afghans affiliated to the embassy.

A few dozen French people have chosen to stay in Afghanistan.

Foreign troops will leave the country for good before August 31.

For several months, the Taliban have launched major offensives across the country, seizing many districts.

From that day, the French embassy warned that it could no longer ensure the security of an evacuation of its nationals.
