The forestry company SCA with headquarters in Sundsvall is Europe's largest private forest owner with 2.6 million hectares of forest.

Huge amounts of timber are required to supply the company's industries.

When the European Commission now proposes that significantly more forest should be protected, it affects SCA.

- The existing proposals can be worrying, says SCA's CEO Ulf Larsson, who also points out that Sweden has already protected large forest areas.

"Pulls his straw to the stack"

The forest industry, which accounts for ten percent of Sweden's total goods exports, has been criticized for not being as climate-neutral in the short term as is claimed, but the SCA head believes that they are pulling their weight in the climate issue.

- An actively cultivated forest makes the largest contribution to climate change.

A growing forest binds a lot of carbon and the forest's products provide the conditions for replacing fossil materials with renewable materials and fuels, says Ulf Larsson.
