Senegal: Faced with an outbreak of Covid-19, President Macky Sall calls for remobilization

The country recorded a record Wednesday, July 14, with 733 new cases, and above all a positivity rate of over 25%.
Faced with this third wave which is confirmed, the president called in the Council of Ministers for a remobilization on the respect of the barrier measures, but without new restrictions.

" of Covid-19 infections, "
at the global, continental and national levels
".
As of Wednesday, more than half of the new cases were recorded in the Dakar region, which remains the epicenter of the pandemic.
A situation that worries with the approach of the great Muslim festival of Tabaski, next week, the occasion of large gatherings and trips across the country.
While health restrictions such as the curfew were lifted after the violent
protests
last March.
Mistrust and scarcity
To date, only around 591,000 people have been vaccinated in a country of 16 million people.
But in addition to
mistrust of the vaccine
, many health centers are facing
shortages
.
The national union of doctors warned against the risk of saturation of health services, "
on the verge of implosion
".
The Sames also called on the government to ban all “
religious, cultural or political
”
gatherings
.
Since the confirmation of the first case on March 2, 2020 in Senegal, 1,203 deaths linked to Covid-19 have officially been recorded.
