The environmental unit at Västmanland-Dalarna Environmental and Building Administration now demands that the decibel level in the fountain be lowered by six decibels on weekdays and on weekends it must be lowered by 11. This is to meet the requirements of 50 decibels during the day on weekdays and 45 decibels on public holidays.

Already five years ago, the first complaint came about the noise of the stainless steel fountain.

Since then, Fagersta municipality has tried to dampen the noise.

This is done by lowering the pressure in the fountain and adjusting the daily operation from ten hours a day to nine.

Raised complaint of noise

But now further complaints have come to the fore.

The environmental unit has therefore been on site this summer and made sound measurements both next to the fountain, ten meters away, at a nearby facade and at the home of the resident who most recently complained about noise.

Norra Västmanlands Kommunalteknikförbund, which supplies the fountain, now has until the sixth of August to take action.

In the clip, you can see what it looks like on Brinelltorget when the fountain has been closed.
