Compared to other federal states, Hessen got off lightly despite the sometimes very heavy rainfall last night.

Larger deployments have so far only been reported from northern Hesse.

Meanwhile, the people in Hessen have to be prepared for showers and sometimes strong thunderstorms.

Due to the storm, there were 60 fire brigades in the north Hessian Volksmarsen and Naumburg.

The fire brigade said that cellars were mainly overflowed and streets flooded.

In Volksmarsen, the fire brigade deployed 40 times.

The emergency services did not work through some places because the amount of water was too large.

The fire brigade waited in the morning for the water to drain.

In Naumburg there were 20 deployments during the night.

On Thursday morning it remains very cloudy and initially mostly free of rain, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced in Offenbach.
