For a strange reason.. a man sleeps 300 days a year and his nap lasts 25 days

A man from India's Nagaur region spends 300 days a year asleep due to a sleep disorder known as hypersomnia.

While most people sleep about 6.5 to 8 hours a day in one period, 42-year-old Purkharam, who lives in Bhadwa village in Rajasthan state, sleeps for 25 straight days once he takes a nap.

The man was first diagnosed with the rare syndrome 23 years ago, and since then, the condition has affected his health and lifestyle.

Once he falls asleep, it is difficult for him to wake up.

In fact, his family members do his daily chores for him, including feeding him and bathing him when he's asleep.

And Purkharam, who is very popular with the villagers, runs a local business in the area, for only 5 days a month, so once he falls asleep, it can be very difficult for him to wake up.

Family members stated that at first, he slept for more than 7 to 8 days in a row, but the symptoms worsened over the years, eventually resulting in him sleeping for about 20 to 25 days.

Purkharam runs a small grocery store in his village for only five days a month.

Even while sitting in his shop, he sleeps several times while working.

In the early days of the illness, Purkharam used to sleep for 15 hours a day.

His family sought medical help, but his illness could not be cured.

By 2015, his condition continued to worsen as his sleep increased by several hours and then to several days.

He remains tired most of the time and remains unproductive, Burchram says.

He also suffers from headaches despite taking medications and sleeping excessively.

However, his wife and mother hope that he will recover soon and start living a normal life as before.

His mother, Kanvari Devi, says the family also works in agriculture, which helps her cover daily expenses.

However, the mother is still worried about the future of her son and two granddaughters.

Scientists attribute the condition to a fluctuation in a brain protein known as TNF-alpha, which is generally associated with disorders associated with excessive sleepiness, such as sleep apnea and idiopathic hypersomnia.
