Jair Bolsonaro

arrived very early, Wednesday morning July 14, at the Armed Forces Hospital in Brasilia.

He was in severe pain, after a persistent bout of hiccups which he complained of throughout the week.

According to his son Flavio Bolsonaro, he was briefly intubated in the intensive care room.

Doctors then decided to transfer him to a hospital in Sao Paulo on Wednesday evening for further examinations.

No emergency operation

After clinical, laboratory and imaging tests, the president will initially remain in the hospital for observation,

" said the private hospital Vila Nova Star in the bulletin signed by the medical team.

The Brazilian president has already been operated on four times after being

stabbed in the stomach during the 2018 election campaign

, and could be subject to another surgery.

However, at first, his doctors officially ruled out this hypothesis.

Despite his indefinite hospitalization, Jair Bolsonaro did not hand over his powers to Vice-President Mourao, who flew to Angola to participate in a meeting of Portuguese-speaking countries.
