The memorial site is for those who have grief and want a place for privacy and reflection.

The surface is framed with cherry trees, an ornamental apple and a mourning tree.

Here is the new 1.7 meter high sculpture Ellips, made of Italian Carrara marble that can withstand a Nordic winter climate.

- It has been an honor to make a sculpture here.

We humans need places of remembrance where we stop and reflect, says Inger Sannes.

Open to interpretation

The sculpture is of an abstract nature and Inger Sannes wants everyone to make their own interpretation of it.

- It is very nice when you walk around it and can talk about your experiences of it, she says.

At the inauguration, relatives of the deceased were present and also representatives from the Church of Sweden in Umeå.
