A hotel collapsed in Jiangsu Province, eastern China on the 12th, killing 17 people so far.

Police are investigating the hotel, saying it may have been rebuilt without permission and led to its collapse, state media said.

On the 12th in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, eastern China, the guest rooms of a hotel building suddenly collapsed.

According to Chinese media, local firefighters have continued to rescue them by removing debris and other debris, but so far 17 people have been confirmed dead.

The state-owned Xinhua News Agency said the local government said the hotel was suspected of being renovated without permission and the walls supporting the building were removed, leading to the collapse.

The police are proceeding with the investigation by calling in relevant parties such as hotel representatives and renovation contractors.

In China, in March last year in Fujian Province in the south, a hotel used for quarantine collapsed due to an illegal renovation to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, killing 29 people and sloppy buildings. Management is often a problem.
