Samuel case The perpetrators of the fatal beating of Samuel Luiz
Events The father of one of those arrested for the murder of Samuel: "Those who were to pay each one"
Ibrahima
and
Makate
, both of Senegalese origin and in an irregular situation in
Spain
, had an "active intervention" in defense of Samuel Luiz at dawn on Saturday, July 3, when a group of young people attacked him and ended up beating him to death in the middle of the street. on the seafront of
La Coruña
. They were two true heroes who that fateful night tried to save the life of the young man from A Coruña and, by their actions, they will be able to see their situation regularized.
This was announced on Tuesday by the Government delegate in
Galicia
,
José Miñones
. During a ceremony in La Coruña, he announced that the
Secretary of State for Immigration
"is working" on the file of both young people, who in addition to trying to save Samuel from the herd that ended up killing him, also collaborated with the National Police by contributing information that has been crucial for the investigation and arrest of the six young men who are considered the main attackers.
The
Government Delegation in Galicia
has sent a report to the Secretary of State for Immigration which includes this "active intervention" of the two young people. One of them managed to stop the first attack on Samuel and help him to flee from the attackers and, when the attackers went after him and managed to reach them again, he came to cover the body of the already badly injured young man from Coruña with his own to try to save him. The other intervened during that second attack and tried to get in the way and separate them from Samuel, who was already on the ground defenseless and seriously injured.
The Secretary of State for Immigration,
Jesús Javier Perea
, "was personally interested in the case" and José Miñones trusts that "his situation can be regularized shortly" because it is known, as a result of the investigation of the facts, that "they were two of the people who mediated with an active role. "
The highest representative of the Government in Galicia highlights that "it is an act of recognition" and "of right" for two young people who acted with "courage and example" during the fight and then gave a testimony that "has been key" in the investigation.
Miñones ruled out providing more details of his personal situation, but he did acknowledge that "they do not have papers or the regularized situation" in Spain.
"This is where we want to act to give them that possibility, as is contemplated in the regulations, that they can have that work permit," said the government delegate to questions from journalists.
The main aggressors, arrested
The police investigation into Samuel's homicide is still open and more arrests are not ruled out, although Miñones assured this Tuesday that "the main alleged perpetrators have been arrested and brought to justice."
The investigations of the National Police continue taking statements from witnesses of the events to establish the "degree of involvement" of each of the aggressors.
At the moment, there are six detainees, four between 20 and 25 years old and two of them minors, two adolescents of which one of them has a previous police record.
The two minors have been in a closed center since Friday and three of the four adults, all of them men, are in preventive detention while the sixth detainee, a woman, is free as an investigated.
The six are residents of La Coruña and friends with each other and are being investigated as perpetrators of a homicide.
Investigators also continue to investigate the motive for the homicide and keep all hypotheses open.
Samuel's friends and LGTBIQA + collectives maintain that the crime had homophobic motivation because before killing him the first aggressor threatened him "Either stop recording or I'll kill you, fag" and, while they gave him the fatal beating, they called him a "fag of shit" .
At the moment, the police investigation has not been able to determine that motivation.
