The purpose is to inform the public about what can be done to not damage the porpoise stock in Swedish waters.

The campaign has inspired Forsea, which operates the strait between Helsingborg and Helsingör, to turn off its sonar so as not to disturb the porpoises.

In the video you hear why sonar should be turned off when not in use.

- We have not been aware that there has been a problem.

This is exactly what we were aware of with the effect of the sonar.

Now we have received new information that made us make this decision, says Anna Prytz, sustainability manager for Forsea ferries.

Wants to spread knowledge

One of the initiators behind Think of the porpoises is Emil Lindvall at Kullabergsguiderna.

- It is from the beginning an investment in leisure boats.

We experience that many who use recreational boats have very little knowledge when it comes to porpoises.

How to act to protect the porpoises, to slow down and turn off the sonar.

We want to reach out with all those pieces so that people know how to behave and what applies, he says.

The campaign is a collaboration between the County Administrative Board of Skåne, the Coast Guard, Lund University, the Swedish Museum of Natural History, the Swedish Veterinary Institute and the Kullaberg Guides.
