Cairo - As

if he would never stop this, the former Grand Mufti of Egypt, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, returned to the controversial statements, attacking Imam Shatby and describing him as a journalist who writes on religious matters and not a solid scholar.

Juma'a's statements about the imam angered a number of Islamic figures, who viewed his statements as belittling a venerable scholar.

The pioneers of social networking sites had circulated a video clip of Gomaa, in which he said, "Al-Shatby is like a journalist who writes about Islamism. He is like (like) journalists with our awareness. He is not like the well-established scholars such as Al-Qarafi, Al-Zarkashi and Ibn Rushd."

According to the video clip, Gomaa continued his attack, saying, “The age of his books I did not study, but in this darker time they did something called Fiqh al-Maqasid and Usul al-Maqssid, Raissouni and those who are not Raissouni. This makes the bereaved laugh at him and fall pregnant from him. This is not a call for imams with knowledge such as Al-Rafi’i, Al-Nawawi, Al-Zarkashi and Al-Qarafi.” ".

contradiction

Juma’s attack on Imam al-Shatibi was met with great anger on the communication sites, from conservatives in general and specialists in jurisprudence from sheikhs and scholars, such as Dr. Wasfi Abu Zaid, Sheikh Hassan Halawa, Dr. Muhammad al-Saghir, Dr. Rashid bin Kiran, and others.

They denounced the former Mufti of Egypt attacking a scholar with the value of Imam al-Shatibi, after he had praised him and his books before, whether in his sermons or books.

Some of them explained that it is not the first attack of Juma against the great scholars, after he attacked Imam Ibn Taymiyah before that.

And to emphasize his contradiction, the pioneers of the communication sites shared an old video clip of a Friday in which he talks about Imam Al-Shatibi, where in the first part he praises him and his book “Al-Mati’” (The Approvals), before mocking him and those who wrote him in the second section, describing him as a journalist. Civilized Jurisprudence for Arranging Legitimate Objectives" by Juma'a, in which there is a clear tribute to Shatby and his efforts.

#Ali_Juma described Imam Al-Shatibi by saying, “A journalist like the newspapers who write about Islamism.”

Al-Tankabti, the author of “Nil Al-Ibtihaj

said about him: The

scholar, the verifier, the great hafiz, the hardworking, was a fundamentalist, interpreter, jurist, modernist, linguistically, pious, pious, pious, ascetic, absolute, among the members of the established scholars, the eminent investigators, and the great imams.

This is what Ali Gomaa said about Al-Shatibi in his book, which he referred to in the video, which indicates that the purpose of this speech is not purely scientific, but rather for a political or psychological purpose.

The secret behind the attack

The professor of the purposes of Islamic law, Wasfi Ashour Abu Zaid, said - in an intervention with the "Al-Hiwar" satellite channel - that Al-Shatibi's words about heresies and his attack on the innovated Sufi movements represented by Juma is the reason behind his attack on the imam.

Abu Zaid added, in his intervention, another reason, which is the general Egyptian regime’s tendency to attack the sheikhs and preachers, he said, as happened with Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Yaqoub recently, and as happened with the scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, where a lawsuit was filed against the Sheikh of Al-Azhar to withdraw the testimony Al-Azhar by al-Qaradawi.

Abu Zeid revealed the reason why the name of the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Ahmed Al-Raissouni, was included in his talk about Al-Shatby, which is that the Union’s Board of Trustees dismissed Friday by consensus, at its last meeting held last May.

Who is Shatby?

He is Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Musa bin Muhammad al-Lakhmi, al-Gharnati, famous for al-Shatibi. His translators agreed that he grew up and lived in Granada in Andalusia, and there he died in the year (790 AH) after his family migrated to it and lived there during the reign of the kings of Bani al-Ahmar, according to what al-Raisuni wrote about him. .

Al-Shatibi excelled in fundamentals, jurisprudence, language, and has extensive participation in hadith and interpretation.

But he was a scholar in the fundamentals of jurisprudence in the first place, and many scholars consider him the founder of the science of purposes, and he was dominated by asceticism, piety, adherence to the Book and the Sunnah, and a strong aversion to heresies and their people.

Friday..a history of controversy

On the other hand, the former Mufti of Egypt was famous for a long history with controversial topics, such as saying that the late singer Abdel Halim Hafez sang his famous song "Abu Oyoun Daraa" to praise the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and his assertion that Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is from the family of the House, and that water Extinguishes male heat in the heart.

He also has many controversial fatwas, including that a man should not sin when looking at a woman who wears a display of clothing because she forfeited the license granted to her by Islamic law, and it is permissible for a traveler to break their fast in resorts and trips, provided that he repents to God afterwards.

But his most offensive statements were those in which he instructed married men to call their wives before returning home in compliance with what he described as "Islamic etiquette", which he later denied, despite the presence of an audio recording, stressing that it was a campaign by the Kharijites against him using a lesson he taught in the past.

Politically, and after the military coup against the (late) President Mohamed Morsi, Gomaa surprised the followers by changing his positions on Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. He returned after a strong media uproar against him to explain that the Brotherhood should be hit, but "to avoid killing them as much as possible."

In a meeting attended by Sisi, former Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim and army officers, Gomaa described opponents of the coup as bastards and "the stink" and incited the army members to strike them hard, assuring them that visions recurred in support of the Messenger of God for what the military is doing in Egypt.
