(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) 7 cases of mixed infection with two variant strains found in Bangkok, Thailand

China News Agency, Bangkok, July 12 (Reporter Wang Guoan) Supaji, director of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Ministry of Health of Thailand, said in Bangkok on the 12th that the health department found that more than 200 people in a construction worker camp in Bangkok were tested for the new crown virus. Seven people were infected with two mutant strains of Alpha and Delta at the same time.

Supaji said that frequent and large numbers of mixed virus infections may lead to the production of new mutant strains.

The Thai government has taken measures such as restricting the movement of people to strengthen epidemic prevention, and strive to reduce the frequent occurrence of mixed infections.

He said that the symptoms of the above-mentioned 7 patients with mixed infections are acceptable and no serious condition has occurred yet, but the relevant conditions must be continuously and closely observed.

According to Supaji, the highly contagious delta strain is spreading rapidly in Thailand.

Especially in the capital Bangkok area, the delta strain has become the "main force" of transmission, accounting for 57.1% of the total number of infections.

On the same day, Thailand notified 8656 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia and 80 new deaths.

So far, Thailand has confirmed a total of 345,027 cases and a total of 2791 deaths.

In response to the increasingly severe epidemic, the Thai government has decided to upgrade the epidemic prevention measures of a total of 6 provinces in Bangkok and surrounding areas, as well as the four provinces of Tao Gong, Pattani, Yala, and Songkhla in southern Thailand, including prohibitions. Cross-government movement, prohibition of leaving the residence to go out from 9 pm to 4 am of the next day, etc., and a total of nearly 150 checkpoints have been set up in the relevant 10 provinces to check the implementation of relevant measures.

Among them, there are 88 checkpoints set up in Bangkok.
