A total of 407,999 people are enrolled, according to the agency's latest monthly statistics.

The Swedish Public Employment Service sees a clear improvement in the number of newly registered jobseekers, where 19,000 fewer registered.

At the same time, the number of registered unemployed who have been without work for twelve months or more has increased by almost 28,000, to 189,000 people at the end of June.

The differences are also large between the regions.

Unemployment was highest in Södermanland County at 10.3 per cent and lowest on Gotland at 5.2 per cent.

Gender, age and origin also affect the degree of unemployment. At the end of June, 8.6 per cent of women between the ages of 18 and 24 were unemployed. For men of the same age, the corresponding figure was 12.4 percent. Among foreign-born, 19 per cent were unemployed, while 4.5 per cent of domestic-born were unemployed.
