Regarding the procurement of a new coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and others, a Taiwanese private company purchased a total of 10 million vaccines from a subsidiary of a Chinese pharmaceutical company in Hong Kong and told the Taiwanese authorities. It was revealed that it will be provided free of charge.

Taiwanese officials have emphasized avoiding "One China" as "a contract between a private company in Taiwan and Hong Kong."

Taiwanese authorities refuse "one China" because Chinese pharmaceutical companies have sales agency rights in Taiwan over the procurement of a new coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and others. From my standpoint, I was aiming to purchase directly from Biontech in Germany.

However, the contract broke down shortly before it was signed, and President Tsai Ing-wen claimed that it was "a hindrance to China."

By the 12th, Taiwan's TSMC and Hong Hai Precision Industries have signed contracts to purchase 5 million doses of this vaccine from a subsidiary of a Chinese pharmaceutical company in Hong Kong, respectively.

The two companies will provide the Taiwanese authorities with a total of 10 million doses free of charge.

The Taiwanese authorities have authorized negotiations for purchase, provided that the vaccine is shipped directly from the manufacturer to Taiwan without going through China.

Regarding the procurement of the vaccine this time, the Taiwanese authorities said, "The purchase of the vaccine is a commercial contract between a subsidiary in Hong Kong and two companies in Taiwan. We have signed a contract to receive free provision from the two companies under the official name." He emphasized that he avoided "two China".
