Chinanews.com, July 12, according to New Zealand's Tianwei.com compilation report, at present, Asians have become the fastest growing group of New Zealand's population and will account for a quarter of New Zealand's total population in the next 20 years.

Minority researchers called on the government to develop new strategies to deal with the growth of the Asian population.

The co-director of the Asian and Minority Health Research and Evaluation Center of the University of Auckland believes that the term "Asian New Zealanders" is too broad to accurately reflect the cultural background and living conditions of Asian immigrants and their descendants.

In fact, "Asian" itself encompasses very rich cultural and ethnic elements. From a geographical point of view, from Afghanistan in West Asia to the east, through India and China, to Japan in East Asia and Indonesia in the south.

She said that if people uniformly use the label "Asian" and "mix all immigrants from Asia", they will not be able to identify their differences.

A long-term academic survey has been focusing on the health and well-being of New Zealand youth, and for the first time this year, it analyzed data on Asian students.

The study found that South Asian New Zealanders from India, Sri Lanka or Pakistan have the highest poverty rate.

A doctor from Asian Family Service said: “In our service level, more and more (Asian young) people are being bullied, depressed, stressed, eating disorders or gambling addiction in school.”

She said that New Zealand needs to develop a national strategy, a strategy that adapts to cultural diversity.

"Really set a fair perspective for Asians in New Zealand." The doctor said.
