• Coronavirus Spain live The flu vaccine protects against some serious effects of Covid-19

High fever, bilateral pneumonia, diarrhea, nausea, and hypoxia.

All the symptoms fit when Javier, 17, entered the Gregorio Marañón Hospital a few weeks ago and was notified of his positive for Covid.

Within a few hours of entering, he

already required oxygen support

and stronger treatment to which he

did not respond favorably

.

Look back at those days and remember: "I thought I could die too."

Javier does not know where he got the virus, but at those times it is the last thing that mattered to him.

His situation did not improve and he had to be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he

remained for four days.

"It's the first time I was admitted, when they told me they had to take me to the ICU, I didn't know what it was ...

I don't want to be there again, I didn't like it at all. They

punctured my artery and veins, they probed me ... I saw people very badly ", remembers this teenager.

Javier, with his doctor EM

"I don't know where I could get it, I

'm not one to go out and make bottles

, I was attending a course and I went to eat at a restaurant, I think it may have been in these places," he explains.

From the Gregorio Marañón they highlight that one of the peculiarities of this case is that

the minor was already infected in September of last year

, passing the disease asymptomatically.

"On this occasion, the disease has evolved and has required ventilatory support," they add from the hospital.

Youth and Covid-19

After passing through the ICU, Javier recommends other young people "to take care of themselves and only go out with

small groups of friends, no discos

." "I would tell them that they are not immune and run the same risk," he says. From the medical center that treated him they detail that "right now the Covid is especially affecting the population that is not immunized,

a really young sector

".

"It is difficult to predict whether a patient will require admission to the ICU or not, especially in such a young population and without other pathologies. That is why it is important to emphasize that

no one can be sure that they are not going to get sick

and end in an Intensive Care Unit. Therefore, individual responsibility, social distance and the rest of preventive measures should be appealed to in order not to get infected,

with singular care in non-immunized people

", alerts Rita García, doctor of the Internal Medicine Service of the Gregorio Marañón Hospital.
