Today, Monday, Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman announced their agreement on bilateral issues and their intention to coordinate political and economic files at the regional and international levels.

This came on the sidelines of the Sultan of Oman's two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, which began on Sunday.

A Saudi-Omani statement said that the two sides agreed to expedite the opening of the direct land road and the border crossing between the two countries.

The statement stressed the need to continue cooperation to support the stability of oil markets, and said that the efforts of the "OPEC +" group led by Saudi Arabia and with the participation of Oman led to the stability of oil markets.

The two sides agreed to continue efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf initiative.

Saudi Arabia and Oman pledged to deal seriously with the Iranian nuclear and missile file, which would contribute to achieving regional security.

According to the statement, the two countries welcomed the strengthening of cooperation to implement the circular carbon economy approach endorsed by the Group of 20, as an integrated and comprehensive framework to address and manage the challenges of greenhouse gas emissions.

On Sunday, Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq began a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, and he met Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and government officials to oversee a set of memoranda of understanding.

An official Saudi statement said, "The visit comes within the framework of strengthening the historical brotherly relations between the leaderships of the two countries and expanding the horizons of joint cooperation and ways to develop it in various fields for the benefit and development of the peoples of the two countries."

This is the first foreign visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq after assuming his position in January 2020, succeeding Qaboos bin Said.
